Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of the LimesAI platform, applications, and services (collectively, the "Services") provided by LimesAI, a Delaware corporation ("LimesAI," "we," "us," or "the Company").
By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Services.
If you are using the Services on behalf of a school, district, or other educational institution ("School"), you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
1. Who May Use the Services
The Services are intended solely for educational use.
Authorized users include:
- Students
- Teachers
- School administrators
- Parents or legal guardians
- Authorized School or district representatives
- LimesAI employees and executives (administrative purposes only)
Accounts are self-created and must be verified against a School-provided roster. Access may be restricted or revoked if verification fails.
2. Age Requirements and Parental Consent
Users 18 and Older
If you are at least 18 years old, you may accept these Terms on your own behalf.
Users Under 18
If you are under 18, these Terms must be accepted on your behalf by:
- Your parent or legal guardian, or
- Your School, where permitted by law
By allowing a minor to use the Services, the parent, guardian, or School:
- Accepts these Terms on the minor's behalf
- Assumes responsibility for the minor's use of the Services
- Agrees to be bound by these Terms and the Privacy Policy
Students under 18 may be required to acknowledge these Terms in-app; such acknowledgment does not create an independent contractual obligation for the student.
Children Under 13
Children under 13 may not use the Services unless verifiable parental consent has been obtained through LimesAI's designated consent mechanism. No contract is formed until such consent is verified.
3. Relationship to Other Documents
These Terms incorporate by reference:
- The Privacy Policy
- The Parental Consent Disclosure
In the event of a conflict, these Terms control unless expressly stated otherwise.
4. Permitted Use
The Services are provided for:
- Instructional support
- Homework assistance
- Assessment-related educational activities
LimesAI is not a general-purpose AI system and is not intended to replace teachers or formal instruction.
5. Prohibited Conduct
Users may not:
- Submit AI-generated responses as original student work
- Circumvent safeguards, access controls, or security mechanisms
- Upload copyrighted material without proper rights
- Upload sensitive personal data (e.g., SSNs, medical records)
- Harass, abuse, or harm others
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or exploit the Services
- Use the Services outside an educational context
6. Enforcement and Warning Process
Violations are enforced using the following graduated process for students:
- First violation: In-app warning
- Second violation: Teacher notification
- Third violation: Account suspension
Suspended accounts may be reactivated only by a School administrator, who assumes responsibility for subsequent use.
LimesAI may bypass this process where necessary to protect the platform, users, or legal compliance.
7. User Content and Ownership
User Content
Users retain ownership of content they upload.
By uploading content, users grant LimesAI a limited, non-exclusive license to:
- Operate and provide the Services
- Perform analytics related to educational use
- Provide teachers with insights into question trends and usage
Schools may retain anonymized student work beyond the duration of a class.
AI-Generated Output
AI-generated responses are provided for reference only and may be inaccurate.
Users are granted a limited license to use AI outputs for educational purposes. AI outputs may not be submitted as final work unless expressly permitted by a teacher.
LimesAI retains all rights in the underlying systems, models, and platform.
8. Account Termination
LimesAI may suspend or terminate access:
- For violations of these Terms
- To comply with legal obligations
- To address security, operational, or platform risks
- At the request of a School
Paid plans are owned by Schools. Early non-use or suspension does not relieve payment obligations under an active contract.
9. Beta Features
Certain features may be labeled as beta. Beta features are provided "as is" and may change or be discontinued at any time.
10. Disclaimers
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available."
LimesAI does not guarantee:
- Accuracy of AI outputs
- Continuous uptime or availability
- Educational outcomes or performance improvements
LimesAI does not replace professional educators.
11. Service Availability
LimesAI is not liable for service interruptions caused by circumstances beyond its control.
In the event of a service failure attributable to LimesAI, the Company will use commercially reasonable efforts to restore service within 72 hours.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, LimesAI shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the Services.
Total liability shall not exceed the amounts paid to LimesAI by the applicable School in the twelve months preceding the claim.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LimesAI from claims arising from:
- Misuse of the Services
- Violation of these Terms
- Violation of applicable law
14. Governing Law and Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Any legal action must be brought in state or federal courts located in Delaware.
15. Changes to These Terms
LimesAI may modify these Terms at any time. Users will be notified via email.
Continued use of the Services after notice constitutes acceptance. To revoke consent, contact privacy@limesai.com.
